07 Feb Mobile Gaming Popular PC 2D Physics Simulator Floating Sandbox Lands on Android February 7, 2026 Posted by GataGames Leave a comment Floating Sandbox has made the transition from PC to mobile with an official Android port now available. The physics-driven ship simulator is now playable on phones, tablets, and Chromebooks. Developed by solo indie developer Gabriele Giuseppini, the game first launched on PC in July 2018. Floating Sandbox became a hit because of its detailed simulation playground A realistic 2D physics simulator, the game is built around a particle system that relies on mass-spring networks to represent rigid bodies. The simulation layers in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and basic electrotechnics. All of that creates scenarios where ships respond believably to stress, damage, heat, water, and external forces. Most of the action centres on vessels floating on water, but once a ship is loaded, restraint is optional. You can punch holes through hulls, slice structures apart, apply force and heat, ignite fires, or smash ships with bomb explosions. When damage takes its toll and a vessel begins to sink, the simulation follows it downward in real time. It descends into the abyss and remains there, slowly decaying. A range of famous and fictional vessels are already present in Floating Sandbox. You can find H.M.H.S. Britannic, R.M.S. Olympic, Queen Elizabeth II, The Goliath, R.M.S. Titanic, Queen Marry II, The Carpathia, and H.M.H.S. Olympic. The game also lets players create entirely new designs using the integrated ShipBuilder. But unfortunately, that feature is limited to PC and Linux as of now. I hope the developer is working to add it to Android soon! Development of Floating Sandbox was the result of the creator’s discovery of Luke Wren’s and Francis Racicot’s Ship Sandbox. And it’s evident in the game, in a good way. If you’re interested, you can check the game out from the Google Play Store. It costs $4.49. Also, read our news on Multiplayer Co-Op Horror Comedy Game Tomb Busters.
