28 Jan GameNews One Of Last Year's Best Games Gets A New Update As It Hits Big Player Milestone January 28, 2026 Posted by GataGames Leave a comment Last year, Dotemu released Absolum, a side-scrolling fantasy beat-’em-up game. Now, in just over two months since its release, Absolum has reached a milestone ahead of the game’s next major update. On Absolum’s Steam page, Dotemu announced that 500,000 players have taken part in the game to date. To celebrate the news, Dotemu revealed that the 1.1 Threads of Fate update is slated for release on February 12. The studio also confirmed that cross-play functionality is coming to the game–it just won’t be ready for this update. Some of the features that will be included with the update include the Mystic Ordeals challenges, which will let players who have beaten the game tackle pre-made challenges or the chance to create their own customized challenges. Upgraded mounts are also charging into the game with new and improved abilities. As for the main characters, they will be given new skins and emotes. The other big addition coming to the game are corrupted regions that can be explored. More powerful enemies also await in the new territory, and they drop better rewards once they’re defeated. Absolum received physical editions for PlayStation 5 and PC late last year. Both of those editions come with a digital soundtrack by composer Gareth Coker.
