Content Warning: A lot of the stories in Short Creepy Stories are just spooky shorts with monsters and ghosts, but Homecoming does cover some pretty heavy topics. We’d suggest if you don’t want to experience content related to death and self-injury we would not suggest engaging with the game, and playing one that’s a little less real. Ominous Steamboat and Nightmare Next Door are some of our favorites.

  • You should spawn in your house, just in front of the door. You will hear some noises from further inside the house.
  • You can’t open any of the doors yet, so head upstairs and interact with the mirror on the landing upstairs. When you do this, you should hear a door creak open.
  • Head downstairs and you’ll find the door to the kitchen at the end of the downstairs hall, open. Walk over and interact with it to go inside.
  • Odd, no one’s there.
  • Head over to the whistling kettle and turn it off.
  • At this point, you need to interact with several items around the room, as shown by the counter in the top right of the screen.
  • Interact with the calendar, the photo on the dresser, the TV, one of the moving boxes, and the cupboard next to the paintings of some leaves. (This one reveals a cat, which is always nice.)
  • After you’ve interacted with all the objects, you’ll be instructed to go to your room, so go do that.
  • When you get in, close the door and interact with the desk to drop your backpack there.
  • Once you’ve done that, go to the door across the hall. You should be able to open that now. Inside, there is a safe or something on the bookshelf. You need to find the number code for the safe. These numbers are different for each playthrough, so we can’t just tell you the code, sorry! Lucky for you, the first number is on the wall opposite.
  • The trouble is, you don’t have any idea what order the number goes in the sequence. Luckily, if you move to the room next door, you’ll find a notebook with the order written down. (Kettle, Toilet, Storage, Closet, My Room)
  • So, head to each of the locations, find the number, and note it down.
  • The living room looks… a little different.
  • Kettle refers to a kettle on the table in the upstairs room at the end of the upstairs hall, on the right. (You might also run into unwanted company there.)
  • Toilet is behind the door to the right of the Living Room door, and the number is on the mirror.
  • Storage refers to the storage cupboard to the left of the door in the living room. The number is written on the back wall.
  • Closet refers to the closet where you found the stray cat.
  • My Room is the room with the safe.
  • Once you have each of the numbers in order, enter them into the safe to find some bills. Lots of bills.
  • After you’ve finished reading, the lights will go out.
  • If you want the good ending here, you need to find your way across the room in the dark, and interact with a letter sticking out from under the bed in this room, and read it. If you don’t read this before you go downstairs, you will get the bad ending.
  • After this, you need to head downstairs to the last door, which is now open. See what it shows you, and learn your mother’s fate.
  • Yeah, we did mention some pretty heavy content here.
