This marks the second time the Chinese organisation has become Kickoff champions. With this victory, the team has secured China’s first seed for VALORANT Masters Bangkok. Zheng ‘ZmjjKK‘ Yongkang was named the MVP of the event, delivering an impressive 270 ACS and a 1.27 KD across 333 rounds played. “If EDG had not been born, VCT China would have been in eternal darkness,” noted ZmjjKK in the post-match interview. Earlier in the week, Trace Esports pushed EDG to the lower bracket in the Upper Semifinals, making the Grand Final a revenge match for the team. Kicking odd the series was an intense match on Lotus, which went into overtime. EDG dominated the first half, but after the sides switched, Trace Esports took away the lead by securing six consecutive rounds, putting an 11-7 lead on the board and ultimately clinching the map in overtime. Trace Esports started off in Bind with a strong 6-0 lead, but EDG discovered some momentum, keeping things close before dominating the rest of the map to secure a 13-11 victory. Abyss followed a similar pattern to Lotus, only this time, EDG emerged as the winner. In the fourth and final map, Fracture, EDG recorded a dominating 13-2 win to close the series by 3-1 and earn three Championship Points for season VCT 2025. Both Trace Esports and EDward Gaming will next be seen in action on the international stage at Masters Bangkok, which starts on February 20th.
