Right, let’s take a look. Wait, actually don’t look, that’s part of the problem.

About The Lookman

The Lookman is a hostile entity found only in The Backdoor area. He resembles a translucent red and black figure with glowing red eyes. If you make eye contact with The Lookman, you will take a large chunk of damage. The Lookman will then teleport to another spot in the room. This can be extremely dangerous for groups of players, as these hits followed by a teleport can create a chain reaction. Players will lose their vision for a moment when the Lookman switches spots.

How To Survive The Lookman

Handling The Lookman badly can spell disaster for a run, but fortunately, if you know how to handle him, you should be able to stay safe.

  • Look down. – It’s best to keep your eyes down when entering a room until you can be sure there’s no Lookman inside. You can safely view the body of the entity, as long as you keep your eyes down below the face.
  • Communicate in groups. – When making a Backdoor run as a team, make sure everyone understands to avoid looking toward The Lookman. This can help avoid chain reactions where players turn towards movement.
  • Listen for sound cues. – Familiarize yourself with the percussion ‘boom’ sound the Lookman makes when he deals damage. Hearing this tells you not only that he’s in a room, but that he just teleported, so you should keep your eyes down.
