Korean esports organisation Gen.G has revealed a limited edition uniform to commemorate the team’s appearance in the upcoming League of Legends World Championship.

The kit was created in collaboration with the Japanese sports clothing brand Descente.

The partnership marks Descente’s first foray into esports, with the company claiming to have created a uniform ‘that captures Gen.G’s confidence and desire to win.’

According to a release, the uniform, coloured ‘Worlds White’, will feature a jersey and a jacket, each featuring gold trims borrowed from Gen.G’s logo. The pieces will feature a scratch from Gen.G’s mascot, the tiger, to express ‘the fight needed to achieve victory.’

The uniform will be unveiled on September 25th through Gen.G’s social media channels and pre-sales for members of Gen.G Crew — the organisation’s official membership programme —  will open on this date. The kit will be available for general sale on Gen.G’s online shop on September 30th.

On the launch, Arnold Hur, CEO of Gen.G Esports, commented: “We’re excited to be able to announce this new partnership with Descente at Worlds 2024. With this launch, we wanted to pay homage to Descente’s history of high performance and innovation to deliver a product for our fans that reimagines our team’s look and celebrates the difficult journey to win Worlds.”

Gen.G begins its Worlds run on Thursday, October 10th in the main event’s Swiss stage. The organisation will be aiming to win the tournament for the first time after claiming victory at this year’s Mid-Season Invitational earlier this year.

The new collaboration is Gen.G’s second announcement around the League of Legends World Championship, having extended its partnership with British football club Manchester City in August. The same month, the organisation announced plans to create a hub in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, building on its existing presence in Seoul, Shanghai and Los Angeles.
