Laursen did not share whether he will continue working in the esports industry, but noted that he is open to new opportunities. Laursen was one of the earliest employees of Astralis A/S, while the esports organisation was still a part of RFRSH Entertainment. Laursen held several positions in RFRSH and Astralis, but most notably was the brand’s Director of Communications. Laursen was also the lead on Astralis’ new department, called Communications and Community, and an interim Marketing Director in 2024. Prior to joining RFRSH, Laursen had an interesting career in several industries. The former Astralis executive held positions in two of the most-known football clubs in Denmark, FC Copenhagen (FC København) and Brøndby IF, as well as FC Nordsjælland. Laursen also worked as a Director of Communications at Endless Jewellery, a Danish jewellery brand. Steen Laursen, former Director of Communications for Astralis, said via social media: “I have gained deep insight into a multifaceted industry that will greatly affect the future workforce, entertainment economy and social development. It is an industry that continues to develop in directions that few seriously understand the extent of. “I have several times during my career helped build new things, and Astralis will forever stand as one of the big milestones for me. With Astralis, we have achieved everything we set out to do and more. So have I. “Therefore, it is with equal parts sadness and pride that I now put an end to it. I give myself the opportunity to breathe, enjoy the sun, use my social capital a little better than in recent years and consider what to do next.” Ivan comes from Croatia, loves weird simulator games, and is terrible at playing anything else.
