South Korean esports organisation Gen.G and the Saudi Telecom Company (stc) have collaborated to launch ‘Esports Certification Courses’ to take place at the Esports World Cup.

Gen.G will partner with STC Play to provide educational courses to residents and support the local esports ecosystem throughout the Esports World Cup event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The programme will primarily feature an esports coaching certification course from July 21st – August 1st that sees participants learn how to become an esports coach.

In addition, there will be a three-day ‘Game Training’ course on VALORANT and Rocket League, with professional coaches teaching how to improve in-game skills.

Stc has been investing heavily in the esports industry, becoming a naming partner for the Esports World Cup. Last year, the telecom company also sponsored the Saudi Esports Federation, providing technical support for events run by the Federation, including the Esports World Cups’ predecessor, Gamers8.

Gen.G, on the other hand, has established itself as one of the leading esports organisations when it comes to educational content with the creation of the Gen.G Global Academy (GGA), a programme built to foster new competitive talents as well as industry professionals. Earlier last month, Gen.G announced the opening of a new building for GGA near the company’s HQ in Seoul, South Korea.

On the competitive side, Gen.G recently won both VCT Masters: Shanghai and the Mid-Season Invitational in VALORANT and League of Legends, respectively. Aside from Riot Games’ game titles, Gen.G has competitive teams across Rocket League, PUBG, PUBG Mobile, and NBA2k.

Posting on LinkedIn, Nicole Minkyung Choi, Gen.G’s MENA Partnerships Lead, said: “Gen.G, committed to supporting the esports ecosystem, has partnered with STC Play to provide top-notch education to local residents and beyond. Whether you’re dreaming of becoming a certified esports coach or honing your skills to compete at international tournaments, we have the perfect course for you.”
