Launched in 2013, Abios provides data, odds, and visualisation services to sports betting operators, and works with a large number of esports brands, including the likes of GRID and Team Vitality. The company was notably acquired by Kambi Group in 2021 for SEK150m (~£12.57m), and has scaled since to become one of the leaders in the esports odds and data space.

Schmidt Christensen is joining the company in the role of Head of Odds Operations, a new role created at Abios. According to the company, Schmidt Christensen will “act as a bridge between trading and Abios’ automated odds setting” to improve the end product for users. The new role is a good fit for Schmidt Christensen, due to his plentiful experience with betting products, marketing, and esports.

Prior to joining Abios, Schmidt Christensen worked at Danske Spil, the national lottery company in Denmark. Schmidt Christensen started as a trader and climbed the ranks of the company to eventually reach the position of Esports Product Specialist. In his position, Schmidt Christensen worked with customers and the company to make sure product features offered were in line with what the customers wanted, and helped improve the company’s esports offerings dramatically.

Rasmus Schmidt Christensen, Head of Odds Operations, said: “Having worked in esports for years, I’m thrilled to join the Abios team. As they’re building new and exciting products on top of best-in-class data and modelling, Abios is at a very exciting growth stage. I’m happy to be part of the next step in that journey.”
