As a result, CCT will split into two distinctive identities, each having different communication channels and visual identities. One will cover its Counter-Strike 2 events with the other focusing on the inaugural season of CCT Dota 2. Season one of Champions of Champions Tour‘s Dota 2 circuit will begin on June 24th and will be the first of eight tournaments taking place. Details surrounding the dates for its remaining seven events have yet to be disclosed. Each tournament will feature 12 invited teams competing for a $50,000 (~£39,498) prize pool, taking the total amount for the season to $400,000 (~£315,988). CCT Dota 2 tournaments will be split into a group stage and playoffs. The top three teams from two groups of five will advance to the playoffs. The playoff stage will feature the qualified teams and two direct invitations to the tournament. The teams will play in a best-of-three double-elimination bracket to determine participants in the best-of-five Grand Finals. Esports data company GRID, the commissioner of CCT, is no stranger to Dota 2 esports. In January 2023, it secured a three-year data rights deal for three Dota Pro Circuit regions. The company has also operated the Pinnacle Cup from 2021 until 2023. Founded in 2022, the CCT also operates a Counter-Strike tournament circuit. The second season of the circuit started in April 2024 and features a $1.5m (~£1.18m) prize pool. Teams compete in online competitions for a chance to qualify for the next stages to secure a place in the Global Finals taking place in 2025. Charlie Hanley-Nickolls, Chief Procurement Officer for GRID, spoke on the expansion: “Dota has a special place in many hearts at GRID and that shows in our long history of Dota support through GRID’s data infrastructure and the Esports Solutions team. “We’re excited to integrate this iconic title into our own premier tournament brand this summer. The CCT has established its role as an important part of Valve’s CS2 ecosystem and being able to expand the circuit means more opportunities for fans, players and talent!” Jonno Nicholson Jonno is a Freelance News Writer for Esports Insider and has been part of the ESI team since 2019!
