Go Lick The World Might Be the First Ever Current Affairs Clicker

You have to feel sorry for the people whose job it is to prevent politicians from saying stupid things.

Things like “go lick the world”.

Which is what President Joe Biden invited an audience of Irish dignitaries to do in a speech last year, prompting White House staffers on at least two continents to put their heads in their hands.

Go Lick The World, from casual game developer Pixel Play, is a wry take on the absurdity of modern politics that marries up the silly and addictive world of current affairs with the silliest, most addictive gaming genre: the casual clicker.

Your goal in Go Lick The World is to literally lick the world as quickly as possible (though, for hygiene and safety reasons, we recommend licking it with your finger). The world in question is a rotating 3D planet earth, orbited by a vast array of objects.

To play, all you have to do is tap this spherical body, on water or land. Taps mean points, and points mean leaderboard domination.

You can boost your score and unlock “Licktastic” achievements by tapping LickLink satellites, based on Elon Musk’s Starlink network.

Also in orbit are F35 jet planes, red electric cars, and Lick Force One, the plane used by President Joe Biden himself. These all boost your points when you manage to tap them into oblivion.

Down on earth, meanwhile, you’ll find tongue-in-cheek artifacts such as the White House, Antarctica, the Great Pyramids, and an ordure-soaked San Francisco.

As you play, the screen becomes increasingly crowded with weird and wonderful objects, from ice creams to space lasers, and in some cases these vary by the day.

Monday is for Impeach-Mints, Tuesday is for Tacos, Saturday is for Swifties, and pizza slices are for fans of the infamous Pizzagate conspiracy theory.

Adding another layer of amusement are a range of Earth skins and accessories you can unlock, including a “clown world” face, trucker hats, Uncle Sam patriotic hat, Texas-themed cowboy hat (with censored sign over the Texas-Mexico border), solar eclipse glasses and many more. These are unlocked via watching rewarded ads, and an imminent ’the great debate update’ promises to add a special, prominent figure’s famous hair too.

While Go Lick The World is free to download and play, there are a couple of IAPs for removing ads, clicking automatically (hello LickGPT, and adorning your profile with a blue tick.

Grab Go Lick The World for free on the App Store and the Google Play Store.
