Google Pulls Fortnite from the Google Play Store, Epic Sues

Fortnite Android

Yesterday we reported that Epic is in maneuvers against Google, attempting to undercut the company by selling V-Bucks to players directly for a 20% discount.

Google retaliated by pulling Fortnite from the Play Store, and Epic has retaliated in turn by filing a lawsuit against Google, as well as releasing a satirical video based on Apple’s famous 1984 Mac ad.

So what’s this all about? In essence, Epic doesn’t want to give Google a 30% cut of its profits from Fortnite – the standard cut that Google takes on all purchases made via the Play Store.

Google, meanwhile, doesn’t see why it should make an exception for Epic just because 30% of Fortnite’s IAP revenue is likely to be enough to buy a solid gold 1:1 scale replica of the moon.

It’s clear from the prompt timing of Epic’s 1984 video that it knew how the situation would play out, at least up to this point. As to whether we’ll ever see Fortnite on the Google Play Store again, nobody can say for sure. Probably though.

For now you can download Fortnite directly from the game’s website.
