Betway has established itself as a prominent bookmaker in the esports industry, sponsoring tournament organisers ESL and BLAST and organisations such as BIGNinjas in Pyjamas, and MIBR – all of which will field teams in the 32-team event.

Adam Savinson, Head of Esports at Betway, spoke on the sponsorship in a release: “At Betway we are thrilled to be adding DreamHack Masters Spring to our portfolio of top tier esports events. It reinforces our strong commitment to the scene and we look forward to being part of such a legendary tournament.”

Taking the current global situation into account, it has been a busy year for DreamHack so far. The tournament organiser has partnered with Riot Games to launch a new League of Legends competition in Northern Europe, extended its sponsorship deal with CORSAIR, and signed a three-year broadcast deal with Twitch which will see English broadcasts of “major” events broadcast exclusively on the platform.

Roger Lodewick, Co-CEO of DreamHack, added: “Ahead of the forthcoming DreamHack Masters Spring, we are excited to expand our list of strong partners by entering into partnership with Betway. This is a strong commitment not only to DreamHack, but to the CS:GO community in these challenging times where we shift from offline to online tournament play.”

Esports Insider says: Betway evidently sees the most opportunity in CS:GO events, and DreamHack Masters Spring is always a tournament that garners the interest of many. Considering the pre-existing relationship between ESL and Betway, this move isn’t a huge surprise as both of MTG’s properties have aligned with each other as part of the ESL Pro Tour this year.
