WCC2 is a cricket simulator developed by Nextwave Multimedia, a subsidiary of Indian media company Nazara Technologies. Considering this partnership, it’s clear that Nextwave Multimedia is pushing to make the cricket title an esport. PR Rajendran, Founder and CEO of Nextwave Multimedia, spoke on the deal in a release: “The commitment towards delivering the best and establishing a personal connection with our users to innovate and improvise the gameplay has helped us achieve this success in mobile cricket gaming. We are excited to bring WCC to the MPL platform. In addition to World Cricket Championship 2, the platform has fantasy games for football, basketball, and kabaddi. India is a hot spot for a game like cricket, it’s a country which makes up roughly 90 percent of a billion cricket fans globally, and – although it is difficult to predict the future – a partnership like this could take the esports market by surprise.
