08 Mar GameNews Mortal Kombat 11 Is Free To Play On PS4 And Xbox One This Weekend March 8, 2020 Posted by GataGames Leave a comment Mortal Kombat 11 was a fantastic conclusion to the modern trilogy’s story, but it’s also an incredible fighting game with a robust online community, and this weekend, you’ll be able to join them free of charge. Mortal Kombat 11 is free to play on PS4 and Xbox One from now until Monday, March 9. The best and most surprising part is that the free trial includes the latest DLC character, The Joker–normally, games don’t offer extra content during free periods. If you’re interested in keeping Mortal Kombat 11 and playing past the weekend, then you’re in luck. Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive has discounted all versions of the game and the Kombat Pack, which comes with every DLC character announced so far–this includes Terminator T-800, The Joker, and the upcoming Spawn. You can grab the base game on either platform for $42, the Kombat Pack for $28, or the Premium Edition for $63. If you’re subscribed to PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live Gold, or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, then you’ll receive an even greater discount. Thankfully, the Steam version is discounted as well. On top of that, Plus, Gold, or Game Pass Ultimate will give you access to Mortal Kombat 11’s online multiplayer portion. Being a fighting game, a large amount of the appeal is playing online against other players, but Mortal Kombat 11 puts a large focus on staying connected to the internet due to its loot system. Thankfully, without a subscription, you can still get loot as well as access the Krypt, AI battles, and most of the Towers of Time–there are specific co-operative towers you won’t be able to participate in. GameSpot’s Mortal Kombat 11 review scored the game a 9/10. Critic Edmond Tran praised the accessible yet deep fighting system, bombastic story mode, and comprehensive tutorials. “MK11 isn’t just a sequel for series fans and NetherRealm devotees, it’s a gateway into the realm of fighting games for anyone who has a passing interest in watching ruthless warriors beat each other silly,” he wrote. “Streamlined mechanics keep the act of fighting furiously exciting no matter what your skill level, and comprehensive tutorials encourage you to dig into the nitty-gritty.” Mortal Kombat 11 isn’t the only game with a free-trial period right now. Rainbow Six Siege is also free to play this weekend ahead of the new season, which is expected to launch soon.
