New Nintendo Switch Lite Coral Is Now Available To Pre-Order

The handheld-only Nintendo Switch Lite launched last year in three different colours, but if Grey, Blue, and Yellow weren’t doing it for you, then Nintendo has a brand new option for you to consider. The company announced a new Coral Nintendo Switch Lite. It releases on April 3–just a couple weeks after Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ March 20 release date–and is available for pre-order right now.

Like previous models, the Coral Nintendo Switch Lite is $200 USD. Best Buy and GameStop are the first two retailers to open pre-orders for the new Switch Lite, but we’ll update this article as more listings go live.

The Nintendo Switch Lite can play almost every game in the Nintendo Switch library, though it doesn’t come with detachable Joy-Cons. You’ll need to buy them separately for certain games, such as Ring Fit Adventure and 1-2-Switch. The Switch Lite also can’t dock and output to a TV, so you’ll be restricted to using it in handheld mode. It doesn’t feature a kickstand either, so if you want to use it in tabletop mode, you’ll need a controller and kickstand accessory–check out GameSpot’s choices for the best Switch accessories in 2020.

The Switch Lite is also a lot smaller than the regular Nintendo Switch, making handheld mode a much more pleasant experience. It comes equipped with a D-pad as well, which is a big win for people who enjoy playing the Switch’s huge library of 2D platforming games.
