03 Nov Mobile Gaming Droid Gamers Says Goodbye to Editor Sam Simmons, and Wishes Him All the Best For the Future November 3, 2019 Posted by GataGames Leave a comment We at Droid Gamers are delivering bad news today, as Editor Sam Simmons has departed for pastures new. We’d like to take the time to wish him all the best for whatever the future holds and to let him know that his words will be sorely missed on the world’s number one Android gaming site. Sam joined us in June this year, and quickly established himself as a hard worker, churning out news on a daily basis for our hungry readers. His words also appear to have struck a chord. His no-nonsense approach to IAPs, loot boxes, and the dark side of free to play provided a bastion of light to tired mobile gamers everywhere. Even Nintendo wasn’t safe from Sam’s criticism. Sam Was Best Known For Taking Down Mobile Developers That Pushed Freemium Mechanics Too Far Sam reviewed many of this year’s heavyweight releases, including Mario Kart Tour, Call of Duty Mobile, Dr Mario World, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, and DOTA Underlords, and no matter how big the developer they weren’t safe from Sam’s fair and balanced criticism. Sam also made his feelings clear on many opinion features he wrote for us. Whether it was criticising Mario Kart Tour for not having enough content, discussing the pros and cons of Apple Arcade-competitor Google Play Pass, or looking to the future to question how our playing habits might change, Sam entertained us with his unique thoughts. We’re not sure exactly what the future holds for Sam, but we do know that no matter what he puts his mind to, whether it’s finishing the game he’s making, writing for other sites, or moving onto a different field entirely, we’ll be keeping a close eye. And you never know – Sam’s words might grace our site again in the future, as we’re leaving the door open for him to return on a freelance basis. You may not have seen the last of him yet, but let’s all come together as a community to wish Sam all the best for whatever comes next and to thank him for all his hard work this past year.
