The DJ and record producer will support the company, and its esports organisation, with its planned global expansion through “strategic integrations and partnerships.” Romero will also co-host livestreams and create video content with Rogue’s players. Photo credit: Ruben Ortega Amish Shah, Co-founder of ReKTGlobal discussed the investment in release: “As esports is rapidly growing and dominating the culture right now, we are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to intersect music and ultimately reach the fans. With Rogue’s recent global expansion and entry into the new League of Legends Europe Championship (LEC), DJ Nicky Romero is the perfect fit. We are thrilled to welcome him and his visionary mindset to the team and look forward to forging a global connection together.” Latin music figures Marco “Tainy” Masís and Lex Borrero were announced as investors in ReKTGlobal in May, joining Imagine Dragons members and producer Steve Aoki in the investor group. Romero added: “I’m excited to join my good friend and fellow DJ, Steve Aoki, with my investment into ReKTGlobal and Team Rogue. I love gaming because it provides a great way to unwind after long nights in the studio. It’s also how I stay connected with friends when I’m on the road performing. Rogue is killing it at FIFA right now and I’m counting down the days until I can link up and play with MSDOSSARY and the rest of the team.” ReKTGlobal raised $10.8 million (£8.4 million) in a Series A funding round at the top of the year, led by entrepreneur and musician Nick Gross. The money raised was set to be used to help cover the cost of acquiring a franchise in Riot Games’ LEC. Esports Insider says: ReKTGlobal evidently see a world in which esports and music work together well, despite the disastrous performances we’re used to seeing at events. It’s fair to say that it’s building up quite the roster of EDM producers and DJs to work with. Subscribe to ESI on YouTube Source link Facebook Twitter Google Email Pinterest
