Hosted at the Disney Events Arena in Paris, the event distributed its total prize pool of $1 million (£778,380) among 16 teams. Aymeric Magne, Director of Disneyland Paris Event Group, discussed the deal in a release: “Disneyland® Paris will host the best teams in the world for nine days promising our visitors a spectacular one-of-a-kind experience. Team Secret took home the championship, receiving $350,000 and 4,950 DPC Points to further cement its invite to The International 9, starting August 15th. It’s becoming increasingly common with the influx of non-endemic brands to see companies use sponsorship valuation companies to monitor and gauge the return on investment as brands seek reliable data from activations. Disneyland are undoubtedly not the first, nor will they be the last to use a service such as that provided by elytics. Esports Insider says: We see major companies sponsor events all the time, but we never hear of the impact and ROI.
