Sci-Fi Twin Stick Shooter Phobos Down Lands on Android!

FRACTiLE Games has released Phobos Down on Android, apparently bringing the same score-driven twin stick shooter experience from its PC version. It includes score chasing, weapon customisation, and carefully paced combat.

You play the role of a lone megacorporation contractor or lone corporation contract worker. You salvage lost cargo on a distant, uncharted planet filled with hostile lifeforms.

The tasks include mowing down waves of diverse or unique enemies, earning score and access to better equipment. And in between all that, customising weapons is also part of the gameplay. Each run focuses on reaching the highest possible scores rather than simply surviving for as long as possible.

A deliberately simple structure, Phobos Down initially offers three guns. Missions are procedurally generated, so every run is different. You can choose to play unique randomised missions or weekly challenges. The latter has everyone (both PC and mobile players) play the same game and compete for the highest scores.

Although it uses procedural generation, Phobos Down is not a roguelike or roguelite. Instead, it’s closer to a classic arcade high score shooter game. You have to finish the game runs alive and focus on competing for high scores rather than relying on repeated deaths as part of progression.

You can play one mission at a time, with the option to pause at any point. And there are no time limits imposed. On that note, catch a glimpse of the game below.

Phobos Down is developed and published by indie game studio FRACTiLE Games, which is based in Finland. According to the developer, the goal behind Phobos Down was to create an ideal twin stick shooter for someone who enjoys the genre but can’t keep up with the most hectic bullet hell games. Someone who prefers more strategic shooting action without constant panic or a nonstop struggle to survive.
