Sea of Remnants Kicks Off Closed Alpha Test Alongside New Character Trailer

NetEase Games has revealed a new character trailer for Sea of Remnants, along with its first closed alpha test. The ocean-fantasy open-world RPG from Joker Studio will arrive in 2026 on multiple platforms, including Android, iOS, PlayStation5, and PC.

The project comes from the same studio behind Identity V and puts you in the role of a puppetfolk sailor. The new trailer focuses on the risks and oddities of pirate life, showing how far adventurers are willing to go to secure treasure.

It introduces one of the main characters, the eccentric Adventurer R.S. She’s a Damage Over Time character and is able to deploy a Surprise Pony bomb that strikes the enemy team in a wide-ranging attack. As the main story unfolds, you’ll travel alongside her in search of mythical treasures scattered across the seas.

Meanwhile, the Sea of Remnants closed alpha test has begun!

The Wanderer Test, a small-scale Closed Alpha, is now live. It runs from today until February 12th, giving a limited group of players early hands-on access. If you had signed up for it, you can learn more about it here.

The story starts when the sailor wakes up adrift at sea with no memories. You sail dangerous waters, fight strange sea monsters, upgrade and customise a fleet. It gradually influences the direction of the pirate city known as Orbtopia.

Gameplay includes turn-based combat. Exploration spans numerous islands, and you can typically select 3 to 4 characters to begin an exploration run. Sea travel is not just a transition between locations, as ship-based combat encounters can occur while traversing the waters between islands.

From the bustling streets of Orbtopia to smaller and wilder island settlements, you get tons of activities. They range from playing a lucky game of mahjong to getting pulled into duels or stumbling through doors that lead to unexpected trouble.

That wraps up this scoop. You can read our next scoop on Side-Scrolling Auto Battler Dwarves: Glory, Death and Loot.
