29 Jan eSport Four teams added to Rocket League revenue-sharing program January 29, 2020 Posted by GataGames Leave a comment Developer Psyonix will add in-game items for four additional esports teams to Rocket League, letting further organisations in on the revenue-sharing initiative. Pittsburgh Knights, eUnited, Team Reciprocity, and Veloce Esports are the latest teams to join the pilot program; each will have branded car skins, wheels, and player banners available for purchase by fans. Image credit: Psyonix RELATED: Pittsburgh Knights parts ways with former CEO Rob Lee The new items will rotate in and out of the in-game ‘Esports Shop’ beginning on February 4th, shortly after this weekend’s start of Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Season 9 league play. Additionally, NRG Esports’ existing in-game skins will be replaced with new versions based upon its brand refresh that was introduced last year. With the new additions, a total of 14 teams will have items available for purchase in the multiplatform car-football game. The other organisations are Cloud9, G2 Esports, Ghost Gaming, Renault Sport Team Vitality, Spacestation Gaming, Rogue, Team SoloMid, Dignitas, and mousesports. Complexity Gaming’s items have been discontinued following last season, as the organisation no longer houses a Rocket League roster. RELATED: Rocket League details teams involved in revenue-sharing pilot Rocket League’s Esports Shop was launched in April 2019 and provides participating teams a 30 percent share of revenue generated by sales of their respective items. Additionally, an undisclosed share of sales also goes directly to North American and European RLCS players, regardless of whether they play for an organisation that has partnered with Psyonix. Esports Insider says: We’ve seen several new organisations pick up RLCS teams in recent months, so it’s good to see Psyonix reward that interest and investment with an opportunity to join the revenue-sharing program.
